And on that note, how's everyone's harvest going, been sunshine rainbows and pixie dust over here.

Oh the new and exciting ways they like to keep me on my toes.

Was on top that bin about 10 min before topping it up. Heard a lovely couple pops and watched the show. Kinda changed my plans of what I was going to do today.

Cement underneath it.

That bin was just put back on the cement pad that that 1950 was originally on. Been using it for years like that. Probably the first time I put wheat in that bin and apparently it was too much for the cement.

But most importantly, was the wheat dry??????? Sorry, just kidding, I know bad timing.

Funny thing this year, we have had 4000 bushel hoppers in the same spot for close to 20 years now, not once have we had to level them other than the first year we re-tamped a few. All those wet years they were fine, bone dry this year and had to lift up to get it level, but when I dug down to get a jack under it, it was soaking wet, and this was before all the rain came. Then today re-leveled our 2000 bushel wet bin. that one might be more because of the excessive use the last couple years.

So I guess it's time to start bin shopping after this now. I have a 30-ish foot hole in my bin line up now. I'd like to put a 10-15000 bushel bin in there. Thinking 21 or 24' diameter, any advantages going one over another? Would rather go hopper rather than flat floor. Need to be able to reach with a 70' auger. Was going to look at brock and westeel mainly. Is there something else out there that's worth it?

I must be getting old as see a few things there that would be looking into before I was thinking about brand of bin that much bigger than footprint you have there.

Our 2106 westeels on hoppers hold about 7500bu so you’re going to be looking at 2406 to hit 10,000bu. Think your 70ft auger should work ok but you won’t have much extra length to play with. Also will want to verify your load-out auger will reach center if you’re going 24ft diameter hopper.
