How much do I adjust the turnbuckle length to correspond with the position of the pentiometer arm? So both sensors are in the same position of lower and raise. Seems that I,m only using one sensor. jl
the turnbuckle will get you the correct voltage you need to make it work right it doesn't matter if they are the same length because the arm may not be in the same place on each side
We have had a 2000 800 head that I was never satisfied with the AHHC. This year "slims" was out doing an inspection before harvest and told me to check the voltage on our potentiometers. We adjusted both of them to 4 volts on the middle pin when the head is raised. We have never had our head respond as well as it does now. The manual setting is close if you want it to work VG set the voltage right. We had to adjust all of the arms under the head to get the voltage where it needed to be. If it is raining there as it is here take the time to set the voltage the difference will amaze you.
Milkman1, give me more info on how he checked the voltage? I take it you unplug the sensors and check the voltage in center pin,but then your testing before the pentiometer ? huh?
Allisfarmer2, you have to have it plugged in and "back probe" the middle wire on the sensor. With key on adjust the turnbuckle to get 4 volts at the middle pin (with head off of the ground). Also make sure all of the arms are laying flat on the control arms. Thanks for the plug Dale
Are you using the ground wire in plug as ground? What was low number when manually pulling against spring pressure? You want the high to low to be between 1 and 4volts. You can loosen screws and twist the pot to get within the 1 to 4. Did you get good readings on other side of head?
Pull the arm out of the lever and make sure you can get 1-5 volts moving the rod hooked to the pot. if you can, adjust the rod.. May have to adjust the lever on the shaft if the rod won't shorten enough.
Make a wiring "tee" that will plug in and have sockets to accept multi meter probes. Ends up using less time and the result is more accurate. Also makes it easy to do preseason check. Adjust for 1.0-4.0 voltage range high to low.
