Hi, I live in Calgary, alberta Canada. My brother needs a combine back home in pakistan. I have no idea at all about these machines, so it will be great help if some one could guide me as to which model and accessories I should buy and the source to buy from.
He harvests about 2000 acres of wheat crop each year and about 1000 of rice, so he will need some machine suitable for this purpose. Presently he hires machines and drivers to do the job. Most of the machines there are from NEWHOLLAND that come from United Kingdom. I think here most of the machines available are John Deere. About spending, he has a budget of from 15000 to 30000 USD. Labor is cheap ther, so old reliable models with availability of spares are preffered .

Any guidance will be highly appreciated.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

As far as Deere combines go, for 30g you'll get an older 9600 with higher hours or maybe a nicer 8820. But 3000 acres is alot to do with either machine. I would say a 9750 would be more of a match to that work load but you're looking at spending at least $100,000 for one.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

Uh, I think Pakistan is another country. Not just another state or province
... I wouldn't even want to try to compare our climate and season and even our cropping situations here to over there.

My best advice would be... buy what the locals have. By the time you found something here that was cheap enough you still have to ship it back to Pakistan. I would think that all the major mfgs. have combines made for over there.

N. american combines are a totally different beast then what your brother needs. These comebines are designed for expensive labour and thus one machine has to do many acres. Over there because of cheap labour most farms have lots and lots of little comebines to do the same job. (eg.6600 or smaller)

I wish I could help you better but I think most of these big N. American machines would not be the right fit for Pakistans conditions. Probably agronomically we are the same but not any other factors.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

Hi, thanks for good information. The main difference there in Pakistan and here in Norht America is the climate, we harvest there in April, when temperaute goes to about 50 degree. I was thinking to buy some cheap one as advised 6600. Shipping is about $3500 and there is no tax on agri equipment.
Could any one please guide, main difference in 6600, 7720 and 8820. We do not need much features as I mentioned earlier labor is cheap so we will need some thing to do the basic harvesting.

I know that. He's obviously looking for a North American opinion if he's asking on this forum.

The main difference between 66, 77, 88 is capacity due to separator width. Functionally they are the same.

There are lots of good 7720's still around. I would just round up a bunch of them and ship 'em over.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

Here's a dumb question:

Do you John Deere dealers in Pakistan? I know Massey Ferguson is a big force, but John Deere
!?

If you're doing rice, you'll need a spike-tooth cylinder, and for grain you need the rasp-bar type, no?

Have you looked at a 760 MF? You can pick one up for around $8000.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

Hi, thanks for all the feedback I have. There are no dealers for combines there in Pakistan for John Deere or MF. MF is there but only for tractors. So if any problem with the combine I will have to send the parts from here. At present there is some expertise and parts available for New Holland combines as these are the combines mostly present there coming from united kingdom (old models). If any body in alberta has combine to sell in good conditon like 7720 even 6620 or any other, please get in touch with me.

Re: HELP NEEDED FOR BUYING COMBINE

There will be no parts suppot there Pakistan. The reason I want to send from Canada is that I am living permanently here so in case they need parts I will have to send them from here. Combines there in Pakistan are started being used recently and still people use old models. Most of the people bring them from united kingdom and then sell them in almost double price because there is no established market there.

Not trying to paint a traget on myself but you could buy 2 1480's for that and have one for spare parts. If your doing rice you would want to get a specialty rotor or a bison rotor from www.bisonrotor.com Also send him a spare rotor belt if you decide to go with the IH. I know of several 1480's for sale one is suitable to run another for parts the pair could be had for under 30,000. PM me if you are interested. They are good hard working old machines.
