Looking over my 2004 9860 before harvest and I can't seem to see the front of the rotor. I have taken off the plastic side shields and removed the concaves as well as taken out the door above the feed accelerator. However the intake flighting on the front of the rotor and the tin work that the crop must go through to enter the rotor can not be seen.

Without totally removing the rotor, how do you inspect the front portion?

If you take the black plastic piece off the front of the upper rotor housing, above the feed accelerator door, you should be able to see it.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to look at the front of the rotor. So far with 1000 sep hrs on combine I have had to replace 1 belt and the straw chopper hammers were done last year. No noticable wear at all.

Thank you,

I had just assumed that the plastic piece was for sucking the dust out and not an inspection area.
