I have a hydralic Free Form swath roller on my 35ft Macdon and am wondering where it should be set for width when swathing canola. Is the full 10ft too wide? Also how far down do you set the stops...do you hold the toggle switch until it is pushing hard on the swath. This is all new to me so want to do it right!

Set it for as wide as your swath. You want to make sure you are tucking in the edges of the swath with the roller ends that are angled, so they don't blow away. You want to pack it good in the stubble but not too much or you just shell it out when trying to pick it up. It should be firm but not hard. It will take some getting used to and practice, every field/variety might be different because of height of that particular crop. I find it's more important to tuck the ends in than it is to really pack it down, so width is essential.
