Hello everyone

First cut starts tomorrow, earlier and shorter than usual, but that happens when it doesn't rain, glad the quality will be high! Spent an hour with the angle grinder and a brush attachment today buffing up rough sots in the box from seeding and was thinking that a nice slick coating would be good to keep the alfalfa from sticking so much and having to slam the brakes to get it to slide out. Barley silage isn't nearly so bad, but you can exhaust all your air on a particularly uncooperative load of alfalfa.

So does anyone know of any paint on coatings that will be good and slippery when dried?

graphite? We dont cut much haylage but for cornsilage and havest it doesnt seem to hang up.

When we do haylage we spray our trucks down every few loads with mineral oil. Just put a couple gallons into a industrial hand sprayer. It seems like haylage just sticks. But the oil helps.

Best thing to do is put a slip and slide liner in
I tried all types of paint with no luck
And if the slip and slide don't work puck bored up the sides works great

X2 on the plastic liners. Our 32' end dumps would not dump haylage. High lift or side swing end gates also help.

Graphite paint would be the best if you want to paint it. But not sure how you can get alfalfa to slide out well

Thanks everyone for the quick replies, it is much appreciated! I guess we will have to see what we can come up with going forward, or even just how much benefit the buffing gave us....

We now buy boxes with tapered sides to avoid hay hanging up. We even tapered our older ones. Tried a few other things, but this worked the best.

Werner plastic liners. I think in Michigan. They have what you need.

The paint has to be of some really good quality,although its hard to find one .Aeon Grow has beautifully decorated their delivery vans and trucks.

Cleaned it up as good as we could, and tried a bunch of different techniques to jiggle it out at the pile

The other truck running had a dedicated silage box (tapered sides, Rams on outside) and his loads slide out effortlessly

Barley silage is happening now and that slides out effortlessly
