OK guys and gals just like the title says . You have to rebuild your farmyard from scratch . But you have unlimited funds in this scenario! Just thought i'd try this for fun , and hear everyones ideas and suggestions.

If your bin yard was in the yard are you moving it out? Need a new shed ? How about a Shop? Just some things to think about. How would you plan for your own operation as no two farms are the same !

Here's the yard. It would be nice if the barns could have been spaced further apart, just because once there is some junk parked around, it can be tight with trucks coming in and out and tying to get tractors parked in the barn

Oh ya, the manure pile should have been started much further away from the back of the pens. It seems to be accumulating quicker than it goes away

I would build it on a nice gravel hill where there is lots of options for drainage from the buildings. I swear a yard sinks over the decades.

Money is no object? I would build a giant dome over the entire yard, with a retractable roof.

I've built 2 yards and would do it right the third time. Build a 100x300 foot shop and only heat and cement 40 by 100. All indoor machinery with pea gravel on the rest of floor. 1 row of 42000 bu bins to accommodate the amount of acres you intend. Scrape top soil off yard and build the ground right first. Put the house close to shop but cover that area in trees and make nice. Keep yard simple and not a lot of little out buildings. All in one big building and yard is neat and organized. Bury power and water lines around perimeter of yard with many spots to put panels

I like the fact that nobody can get to our bins or sheds without driving past the 2 houses first so I would keep the bins in the home yard for security reasons. There has been some grain thefts in the area and I'd rather not be one of the victims. That being said, talk to a couple insurance agents about distances between sheds, houses, barns, fertilizer bins and fuel tanks. Right now our fuel tanks are very close to the lane so I would move them to a less obvious location with a good fire guard around them. I am on top of a hill so drainage and flooding has never been an issue for us, and I like it that way as well. Bit of a pain when you are trying to level ground to build on though. I'm out of livestock now with the pigs gone, but if I were to start a new animal enterprise it would be further removed from the yard, downwind and down stream from the wells.
