Went and looked and put a bid in on this combine. Local, 1 owner, 1976 model I think. Is there a website where I can look up the serial number to verify the year? Comes with 2 headers, 1 20' flex with 6 reel pick up fingers and a 24" 5 bat platform. Barn kept, but hasn't ran in years, started up and ran to get it out of the barn. The farmer passed away last year and the estate wants it gone.

I can't verify the year for you, but that is a cool find. That Winnobar decal made it a long way from Newdale. We ran the pull type version (914) for years and it was a good little combine for it's time... about as simple as they come. The only real shortcoming was the small bearings and light shafts so you will be changing bearings on a regular basis. We put a Harvest concave in ours and it did very well for it's size in wheat, barley, canola and flax. You've got the early series (white top) so it's definitely older than a 1980.

I had one of these, run as fast as you can away from this p.o.s. I called mine the rolling junkyard! Buy a 14 or 16 series you will be much happier. The 915 cleaning fan is a joke, never enough wind. Pain in the ass to work on too.Worst red combine ever made i.m.h.o

I don t think they made them after 1978
The red tops came out in 80 and 81... ours was an 80. We ran with an air foil chaffer and Harvest concave and thought it was a good machine for it's size. I don't think you could find a simpler design for the capacity it had. It was a long time ago, but it seems to me there were 2 roll pins that controlled the sheaves to the fan. If one of those sheared off, it would reduce your fan speeds.

Have to agree with ken do. The combine was a step backwards for IH. The only combine that was worse was the gas powered 815 .......not very many of them around, I think they all burned up.

I always thought that the earlier model 503 was a better machine, at least the cleaning fan worked.

When the lower end bearings go on the turret unload, post back for help.

Edit. As a kid I learned all about thrust bearings from working on the lower end of the unload.
