I'd like to get a little more power out of the STX 375. As I understand it has same frame and parts up to the 480 but then over that things have changed. Is the easiest way a Steinbauer chip? They claim up to 463 HP? Or is there any other options.

Also then concerned about weight. We have a weight kit on the back with 8 weights (I think max is 14). No weight on front. 520 duals on tractor (excellent condition though). Right now with 40' 3320 PHD and 6450 tank it runs 4-6% slip except for in the hills. But I might be going to 60', hence increased HP requirements. Will I need to get weight kit for the front of unit? TIA.

Area diesel also sells chips. We have 8 chips in everything from MFWD tractors, Swathers, Combines and our 4WD tractors running them. Power is noticeable but we install them for the fuel savings. We have one installed on a TJ375, great power now but we are lacking traction now, even with 710's. I would say you will have to add weight on your STX.

Ring cummins & get them to plug there laptop into it & change to the hp/ torque you want. All they need is the serial numbers on the side of the motor right near the fuel pump. Some 375's can be taking up some can't depending on what internals were used in the motor.

OK let me know. The weights on the mx are different I pretty sure but I think I may be able to make that work.

My cousin is a cummins mechanic, I asked him about "chipping" mine, he said the exactly the same thing.

The STX375 has it's own diffs The 425 has the larger diffs
The powershift trans is the same as the 450 but the manual trans is rated to 430 max HP
I've been using the steinbaur chip for three years and biggest difference is the torque, will hang in there and get through the hard slog but I'm not using for extra power all the time

I was wondering the same about two months ago.... We put on a steinbauer module, and put fluid in 8 tires. The tractor had triples on it already. It pulls great, had it on 61' drill on 12" spacing plus mid row shanks. 200bu cart and 3300gal liquid cart. Never was looking for more power. The engine actually runs smoother than the STX 500 we have on the other drill. Only worry is the axles, as it isn't an HD model.

chip it and power wont be an issue, with our 430 we pulled this very wet spring a 57 foot 5000 flexi coil with 9 inch spacing and 3 inch tips, and 430 cart without any power issues for the most part, never got stuck but the 710r42 deep lug firestone tires were the only reason why, anything smaller and i would have been getting stuck a lot.... and btw this was a tow behind ,and only 8 weights on the back(100 pounds each)(holding bracket is another 900 i beleive) and two 500 pound rear wheel weights which seemed perfect, 4-8 percent slip where it was dry, which was almost nowhere lol, would be pushing mud with the front drill castors slipping 25 percent and those tires just kept on chewing....

moral of the story if things stay wet i think your gonna want more rubber hittin the ground
