Had a soil test guy come out to soil sample. He couldn’t get his probe in the ground this was before frost in some steep hills. I was aerwaying it and hoping for better yield. Ground is super compacted going to run an inline ripper into it shouldn’t be a problem but wanted other opinions thanks. This will be my second year on the ground

Different soils, climate, country etc, but we’ve has some great results w ripping to improve plant growth

I have a inline ripper. You will be happy with the results but only use it when soil is dry. They pull really hard !

Rip across the slope, not down. Don't rip in swales where the water runs. The soil will be loose enough and give way with a rain. Same thing at bottom of field. Don't rip within 20' of where the water runs out of the field. However big of horse you have, its probably not big enough. I have a 5 shank DMI ecolo-tiger with mid-row shanks. In some conditions it will stop 45,000#, 450 hp tractor. Have the fuel supplier on speed dial.

Rip when it’s dry. The dryer the better. If you tip when wet it smears and doesn’t do much
