We planted L130 and L252 this year and the clear winner should of been L252 according to all of Bayer's trials. On my farm I did one trial replicated twice and L130 was the winner by almost 10% on both sides of the field. Conditions were wet for June and July. On two swaths the L130 took off 208 bushels, the L252 190 bushels. Not sure whether I should even plant 252 next year given my results. 252 was 3 days later and harder to swath as it seemed to have a bit of a wave to it and looked to have more disease in it compared to the L130. Both fields were sprayed with Proline. Thinking about trying some L261 but have not heard much about this variety but most of my acres will be L130. Any other varieties that should be tried? What results have you had on your Invigor's

L130 did very well on our farm this year and I would stick with what works best on your farm for the majority of the acres. I would still try the 252 again and probably the 261 as well. The 261 I supposed to stand better and swath easier but here it seems L140 and 252 were at the top of most of the trials. I would not try 160s as it is a very late maturing variety and still needs to be sprayed for sclerotinia anyways.

I grew both 252 and 261 yielded both the same. Not sure why Bayer came out with two varieties that are so much alike. Also grew 130 which was the lowest yielder. Best variety I grew was Canterra 1990, it blew the new Invigors away.
Im debating what to grow next spring. Not a big fan of RR varieties but after seeing what 1990 did hard to not grow it again. Will likely go with 252 and 1990.

L130, 5440, L261 and L252 are basically very similar and breed off of same lines. L130 was best in my trial, but it was also much ripper when swathed. L252 and 5440 on same field was pretty much equal, except 252 had a lot more potential. This new to us land and a lot of canola on it in last years so there was disease pressure (was sprayed). The 252 was taller and bushier, which translated to much more disease. So 252 could have been much better, but it wasn't. Will monitor that again. Also did 261 and it has some awesome potential. A lot of places was saying 70+ bpa although the quarter also had a lot of drown out spots and averaged right in line with everything else. It is much taller but 2-3 days later. We've had good luck with L130 and 5440, so will be doing those again. But doing a half section half/half with 252 and 261 to see difference, will likely put a bag of 5440 and L130 in middle as well.

We like L130 because you have seed that into June and still have it mature quickly with good yield. 1990 is a good variety, so is V12 and 45H76 Clearfield. These are all pretty close in yields in replicated trials in this area. However every canola grows different in your conditions, so stick what you like and works for you.

Was the L261 2 or 3 days later than the L130 or the L252.

Was comparing to 5440. I usually think L130 is 2 days earlier than 5440, 252 is same, and 261 2 days later. I've been growing these for 2 years (had MD plot last year as well). I will post plot data later, when have some time to put everything together.
