Looking at purchasing a semi and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this company in Manitoba. Good or bad. Seems to spend a lot of time polishing from the pictures but I have no use for a shiny tird. Any help would be good. Thanks.

I spent a day looking at trucks near Brandon when I was at farm show this winter. I didn't look at this dealer but did look at others and didn't find anything appealing. Used fleet trucks with heavy corrosion.

I would venture to guess that a bunch of those are trucks that went down and were traded on running trucks to avoid lost time.

I looked at some his trucks at farm progress show. He likes to paint and use chrome to detract you from the corrosion issues his trucks have. His trucks look good from 10 feet away though. I cannot tell you about his rebuilds though I was turned off by the lipstick treatment. I assume his rebuilds are just enough to get the truck running to sell and not full rebuilds.

Bought my tandem through him sight unseen. Had them send lots of pictures and also had it run through Peterbilt Winnipeg for oil samples and a check over by a mechanic who looks at trucks daily. Cost me $700 but was peace of mind. Everything that Pete found had matched with what his shop had fixed or found. Flew out and looked at the truck in person and drove it home. Would buy again from him. Like any other used truck place out there, need to do your own homework and research. Biggest concern for me was passing an AB safety. Had my mechanic here run it through for the out of province and fresh safety and it needed nothing to pass. Have run it for 3yrs now and had to do airbags, pedal valve in the brake, and bushings in the suspension. Pretty minor repairs I think for a truck with a million km.

That's such a good load of bull$hit u could probably sell it, or at least work there, friend of mine was down there and noticed the dipstick were pushin out/pukin on most of them ... Guess the guy who checks oil doesn't shove them back in properly .... Or ? Hmmmmm

talked to a trucker that was at our farm loading a couple months ago and seen that he had K & K mudflaps on his truck so I asked him what the trucks there were like and he said himself and 2 other buddies bought trucks there and all had terrible luck with them. He then proceeded to tell me that J Brandt Ent is the same outfit as K & K. In the end his opinion was to not buy anything from these 2 dealers.

I think I heard once that there is a connection between k and k and the guy at Mcgregor mb, titan trucks. Or maybe I was dreaming it :D

Thanks for the replies all, I have looked at K&K trucks at Swanson before and was not impressed with his stock. After talking to J Brandt ent on the phone I think I will look elsewhere. Hard to find a good used day cab, seems to me if your not willing to spend 60 to 70 thousand you would be better off spending 20 and putting 20 into it, just my thoughts. I lucked out a couple years ago and found a volvo with 260000 orig km, got it for 14000 and stretched it for a tandem, it's been awesome so far.

Used semis with a million plus km's on them are all the same. You are taking a chance, some will be good a cost you nothing for a long time and the next one will be a pile. Most of the small dealers buy from the east, paint the frame polish it and flip them. I think you are better finding a western truck from a fleet or someone you can get a full maintenance record on.

Most of us wouldn't even consider buying a tractor with 10,000-20,000 hrs on it, yet that's what most of us buy for a semi. Myself included.

Is there any of these truck resellers that try to turn a fast buck that have a good reputation? They often know nothing about the truck, polish it till it looks like new, and run for the hills when you have problems after you buy it. To many buyers think a well polished truck is a truck that has been taken care of since new. As the old saying goes it can look good on the outside but be rotten on the inside.

So I just go out it in my truck and went and bout one some where else
Sad thing is was going to bye the truck till he said that

I have bought a truck from K&K ent, its been a great truck, exactly as described. It was a 2012 model with 450,000km however, shouldn't need much work. The one thing that sticks out to me about J Brandt is that the trucks are overpriced and they all seem to be older and have had recent motor work. Now if the work was done then maybe the price is worthwhile, but I can't figure out why he rips off most of the stock exhaust and puts those dumb looking chrome stove pipes on. Why would a 06 or 07 need new exhaust? Just eye candy to get more money I'd say. I don't think these used truck dealers are entirely different, some are exceptionally good or bad but they are all trying to make some money which I think is fair. Almost all of them will bring a truck in, do service, polish, & possibly blast/paint the frame, after they buy the truck from dealer or fleet, I doubt there is huge profit left over. If I buy from one of these dealer I usually look for something thats current enough that it won't likely need a huge rebuilt.
