JD 1177H4 valve adjustment

Does anyone know the specs for the valve adjustment on 6.8 JD engine on 1990 1177 Hydro4 combine? Is it to big of a job? Could i do it myself ( car mechanic and tech, not a farm equipment guy :( )???
