we used the smooth bars for the accelerator beater, ran the feeder house chain on the slow speed. probably need to change your sprockets on the sides of head to run faster, your head speed is going to be the limiting factor. if you are lucky the popcorn will be standing when you harvest and you can go 7-8 mile per hour. i calibrate the concave before the season, then measure the corn cob and set it the same. run the rotor about 380. if you have a few kernels on the cob tighten concave a little, if your loosing kernels out the separator, speed up the rotor. if the kernels have black tips showing, they won't pop and you will get docked if to many. popcorn ears are not much bigger than the stalk, so deck plate adjustment is critical. head auger needs adjusted so ears don't pinch and do damage. good luck

Thanks for the info, do you run the head auger out to the max of 3" also do you tighten the deck plates tighter than they come from Deere.
