Hey guys, first post so here we go, we are looking at buying a rock ripper in Western Australia, they have a similar work load to scraper work, so the question is what would be better the JD9620 or a STX 500. Supposedly the 9620 has the better gearbox but the STX has a better engine. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Go with your gut,
I would go with the gear box... Or an stx 550

We are pulling a carry grader no problem 9420. How deep and wide are you ripping. A link to the product would be interesting .

From up in your area but down here now joe dellavedova is pulling two scrapers with a 9630

http://www.rockcrushing.com.au/. The machine we have purchased is just the ripping one. Meant to be extremely hard work on tyres and gearbox.

You must have some serious issues.... Impressive bits of gear but they just seem to have FWA on theirs.

Yeah I think that was because they were moving around alot demoing. They suggest 500hp or more.
