I was wondering what 9770 users like/dislike about their machines. We currently have a 2388 case and are going to upgrade to a class 7 machine to handle a 12 row head. We just cant decide on a deere or case. Any input would be greatly appreciated

well i'm a die hard green man so naturally i would go with the 97.

from what i've seen the 7010/7088 are a nice machine. alot more so than the old ones. i think the deere is a bit more versatile, easier to change from crop to crop. do really well in corn, the case will proly out cut it in wheat as they have quite a bit more sieve area. dealer support is always a plus too. our deere dealer is 105% better than our local red one so that makes a huge difference here.

I demo'd a 7010 against a 9660 1 1/2 years ago and was about to buy a CIH. The dealer wouldn't bring out a 70 series for milo. I demo'd a 9770 last fall in milo, and now the decision is more a wash.

Get your dealers to bring out the machines and try them out in the crops you raise on your farm. That is why the dealers get the big dollar for selling the machines. After you have ran both, then ask questions about the points you didn't like.

If you haven't ran them both, you haven't done your homework.

Good luck getting either color of our local dealers to bring you a machine. We tried last year with no success. We finally had to have neighbors come over while we rented their machines.

8010when, your dealers don't want to bring out combines??? Wow, not enough competition out there or what? In my area they are begging to. We have John Deere, CaseIH, New Holland, Massey, Gleaner and now Lexion in our closest town so there is some healthy competition.

As for the JD/CIH question, I am a Green guy but can admit Deere has its weaknesses. Both makes are still working out kinks. Either way, I don't think you could really make a wrong choice. Local dealer support comes into play here. Try them out and see which you like, after all, it's your money and you've got to buy what you like regardless of some little issue either may have.

Demo's cost the dealer a lot of money, hauling costs are most of the expense. If the demo is close enough I usually drive the machine and pull the head out and do the demo myself. If I have a customer that has agreed to the purchase price contingent on a sucessful demo I will then demo the machine. It takes a lot of time and money to demo and we have to be fairly comfortable that there is a fairly high committment from the customer on the purchase.

If you are buying a red one, I would go with the 7010 over the 7088 any day, old vs new technology.
I would love to demo a 7010 against our 9770 in 100 bu wheat. Hopefully this year it is going to happen.
If I am able to get a 7010 in the field, how should it be set for high yielding, easy threashing wheat. I don't want to have a poorly set up machine on a demo.

I have a 9770 and I cut with a 7010 last fall we were doing durum that was yielding 75 plus bushels to the acre and the owner of the 7010 tried to order a 9770 the next day.

7010's are just a plastic version of a 2388. More hp and bigger tank

This is probably the most ignorant statement I have seen in quite a while. Not much research done with this statement. Major differences. Not going into the details, it has been stated many times in many different forums. We demoed a 9760sts vs the 7010 before we made the change from our 2388's. Both have good points and bad. JD cleaning area is way to small for that amount of horsepower. Trying to cut wet corn with a JD was a disaster. I really could care less what color it is, I want what works best, for our conditions the 7010 was the superior product. We have red and green tractors, it usually comes down to price and dealership support. The green dealer usually is no where to be found after the sale has been made. So if the price is right we usually will lean to the red side. Both have good products. Maybe the 70 series is more competitive but the 60 series was not as good as the 7010.

when your talking dealer support are you talking support like the john deere harvest works following the custom harvesters from texas to canada or are you talking just around the farm dealer support cause i think john deere has the best custom harvest support team out there unless case has really stepped it up the last few years but i too would like to see both a 9770/60 and a 7010 in the same field together and even the 7088 just to see cause i bet that price tag on that machine is way easier to look at then a new 9770 or maybe im wrong havent looked much at red but wouldnt hesitate to.

When I say dealer support I am talking about rude and unhelpful staff at the dealership. My part orders are usually wrong and have to be reordered. They have a poor parts inventory. Our case dealer is much more reliable and knowledgable. There are a few other jd dealers within the area I will check with next time we look at purchasing something.

well if your talking about local dealer support like that being rude and unhelpful and then not even knowing what parts to order you seems to be a easy decision on what color to go with. I mean they both are going to break the way i look at it but whose going to get you going again sooner i guess because mother nature dont wait for anyone and thats who your racing against to get that crop off.
