Demo's cost the dealer a lot of money, hauling costs are most of the expense. If the demo is close enough I usually drive the machine and pull the head out and do the demo myself. If I have a customer that has agreed to the purchase price contingent on a sucessful demo I will then demo the machine. It takes a lot of time and money to demo and we have to be fairly comfortable that there is a fairly high committment from the customer on the purchase.
