Does anybody know if it's possible to adapt a JD flex draper to a case ih flagship combine? We have run a 635 auger head on an 8120 but not a JD draper. We have 2162 now and they are fine but would like a true flex cutter bar. I don't think I like the look of the new 3162. I have no idea how you would get short beans to feed over that wall they have behind the cutter bar. I might be wrong though.

Im also curious to know this as well, we have a 30ft HB and when on float, it contours the ground so well! Our land has lots of rolls and ditches also. I can only imagine that a MD flex even at 45ft would give MORE than enough leeway to get all the crop.

Honeybees flexy front knife bar also works quite well. Great big opening in the centre for bulky crops. Maybe it could also be an option, but gee, that JD photo is impressive.

Yep exactly. I don't see any adapters listed for this application. That's why I'm asking though. Some smart people out there and usually somebody eventually figures it out.

being that an 640fd header basically has its own controller and tons of software to run it properly I really doubt it could be done easily.

I would call headsight. They made me a harness to put a 620F hydraflex on a lexion so if it can be done I would say they could do it

Can you get a demo of a 3162? Going by looks is good and all but really until it's tried out in the conditions you speak of, we can't say one way or another. Is the "wall" behind the cutter bar any more on the 3162 than it was on the 2162?

catpower - all that you need is an adapter kit similar to the 600F kit that you used previously. The most significant difference is the addition of the draper speed switch for the FD. The 600FD header uses analog header control sensors so can communicate just fine with the CIH combines. You would have to give up is the belt slippage alarm because this does use the controller on the header- but I expect that you could easily see any belt slippage by watching the crop flow.

if you only cut tall beans that header flex looks good, but in my short beans, I like the cut ones to go into the header....that is why I like my MD. Other headers can cut them off closer in the low spots, but they fall out the front cause the real is too far away to kick them in. good luck in your conversion.
