Grower based in NE Saskatchewan. Looking for someone with experience with a JD 1870 and Canola. We bought a 2012 56' JD 1870 last winter with a 1910 air cart. This spring was the first season we have used it. We are set-up up with single row seed openers. Our wheat crop had really good emergence, but our canola crop was spotty. Even though we raised the frame 0.5" by placing 2 more 1/8" shivs in the hydraulics from the wheat to Canola, we seemed to have canola seeded deeper than the wheat. Not sure how that could be. We ran the seed boots at approx 5, the same setting for wheat and canola. Our fan speed was 3600rpm, and we did this to prevent fertilizer plugging. The vent guide was pointed to direct more flow at the fertilizer, maybe 60-70%. I didn't record the color setting exactly though. We ended up with canola approx 1" and wheat at around 0.5". I have a feeling we had issues with seed bounce, but tough to tell. Hoping to hear about other experience with the 1870 seeding canola and your results.
