Hello, we have a 230 straight cut header that's on a John Deere 9600. Last year the arm off the wobble box broke twice and the knife head once. So this year we replaced the wobble box and arm and head but now it seems to shake everything and doesn't seem to be running quite right. Has this happened to anyone else? if so how do you correct the problem. Thanks!

Is your header bent, causing the knife to slide harder? The side of the header where the wobble box is mounted could be cracked out and flexing also.

No the header is pretty straight but the knife doesn't slide by hand. When we turn the pulley on the wobble box tho the knife does slide not to hard. Would a simple thing as a tight gaurd cause that much shaking?

Make sure your knife, guards and hold downs are in proper condition,
that means a sharp sickle and good guards.
The sickle should move freely before you tighten the hold downs.

The wobble box seems to have a dead spot. When you turn it over by hand the knife moves back and forth but one spot seems loose and doesn't move the knife. It's supposed to be a new wobble box but I didn't remember the old one doing this. Not sure if maybe it's a bad wobble box or that's how they all are?
