This tractor started making a noise ripping with a homebuilt 9 shank v ripper. it only makes the noise turning right. when you shift up or down it takes 10 to 15 seconds to shift. your in a gear you shift up or down then it stops and have to clutch or wait then it jumps. this tractor has 7181 hours as of 20 mins ago. it started about 3 weeks ago and havent used it since. thinking of selling and getting a john deere 8870 that is in great condition and has 7500 hours. good bad on these tractors. help on what the 8400ts problem is and how are 8870s. thanks in advance Ray

Are you getting any hyd system codes? It sounds like it could be a lack of flow- check hyd filters, pump could be on the way out, cracked pipe from main hyd pump to clean oil res in the back end. Are you turning with the ripper in the ground?

Hade a Deere guy out and couldn't find anything and wanted me to haul it to the dealer. No we don't touch the steering wheel at all and we hade to drive it home backward because it won't go in forward. Ray

Yes it said to replace hyd filter and we did and didn't help so I don't know.

need help deciding what to do for fall tillage. sell the 8400t and purchase another tractor or fix the 8400t. thanks in advance ray
