I like it, wish I had one. Depending on straw conditions and seeding tool, it can be tricky with trash flow, but a lot of factors there. I've used it on grassland that I sprayed down in fall and then direct seeded following spring. It leveled cow and gopher madness and had a perfect seed bed. Used it last year on where I planted soybeans this spring, did a nice job of blackening soil and provide a good seed bed. Used it in slough in fall to level off and get rid of cat tails. Works good for leveling water runs or ditch areas.

I used a 30 foot with mx245 hp which had enough power, but couldn't pull a 45 foot faster than 7 mph. Used the 375 then and then it was lots of power. So I'm going to say 7-8 hp per foot. Need to drive 10-12 mph for it to be effective.

I'll plug the company, grain bags Canada, good guys to deal with and they know the stuff.

I've seen them work and they do a good job of chopping up dry stubble and mixing in with a bit of topsoil. They work best in dry conditions. They would help bring up the weeds and yes they do leave a good seedbed, but I wouldn't own one. They can compact the crap out of the soil.
But I do like the promo video - spoken like a true Aussie.

We pull a 40ft set with an 8300 no worries at all, but that is on dead flat country. They do a wonderfull job at 12-15km/hr. They definitly have place in our wheat-cotton-chick pea dry land rotation. As mentioned they will smear and create a hard pan if used in wet conditions and are often over used as they make a fallow field look pretty. Also they are not a spray rig, so don't expect full weed control from them.

Agree with everything Mick and Auscocky have to say on Kelly chains. My use for them is to pull in soil and level deep tracks from a wet harvest. Plenty of people around dry hiring them out so works well for $2/acre

Has anyone used the Brookfield diamond chain. Very similar to the Kelly but offer a few different chain options. Has anyone used either of these machines for seeding Canola and or small seed crops. PJ Green make a small Airseeder kit for both companies and looks like it and the chains would be ideal for Canola and clover.

Alright in dry conditions for levelling , and using after pupae busting, also for partial weed control, other than that they are the biggest ground rapers of all time, compaction kings, they leave the topsoil so fine in some situations it's like it's covered in glad wrap when it rains.
