Have had a heck of a time sorting out an AFX8010 that was struck by lightning!!! Have got it harvesting now, still trying to sort the air conditioner and test all the sensors on the machine. Anyone else heard or seen of this problem????
Lightning is such a powerful thing, huh?
A few years ago, my neighbor's JD 8760 tractor was struck. The strike did a real number on it! I would not have believed it if I had not seen it for myself; but all 8 tires were "melted" to the ground! The tractor was hooked to a plow, though, and the plow was let down on the ground..I guess that is why the tires got it so bad...There were a lot of electical componets in the tractor that got fried. Anyway, it was a bad deal..
Machine is now fully operational, harvested a couple of box fulls of wheat with it this afternoon. Owner did a few hours with it last night. Looks like its almost a done deal. 4 more small bit to fit and its a done deal.
That was quite an ordeal for both technician as well as machine.
