Have a 7720 turbo combine with 224 front

Engine seized last harvest

Wanting to sell it as is

Wondering what thoughts people had onto how to load this onto a truck

The front is still attached to the combine unfortunately !

Would a crane be the best option ?

Be careful and crack a hydraulic hose for the header lift, so you can get that off, use loader or skidder to lift the feeder back up and put in the safty stop. If ya can get a trailer behind it I would hook come alongs to the steering system and unhook cylinder hoses so you can steer it a little bit and push against the feeder with a loader, just take your time. They are not real heavy

Give me the combine for free , I bet I would get it on a truck at that price.lmao

Do you have it sold ?

If the front is on the ground just undo its fittings lift it with forks or jack and block it up until its off the lugs then tow combine backwards, I agree with SW either push or winch it onto a low loader. The turning brakes should nilly be enough to keep it straight.

Aussie farmer - no combine is not sold

Want $3000 negotiable for it

Located near Clare South Australia

Here is the link for the ad on Gumtree John Deere 7720 harvester | Heavy, Farming & Agriculture Equipment | Gumtree Australia Clare Area - Clare | 1080854376

If you can fit it in a post pack I will pay for it straight away .lol.
Looks pretty straight, the front should nearly be worth 3k . If I could get here for next to nothing I would come get it , If I had a way of getting the spare tyre I would give you $500 just for it .cheap handy for someone with one already. Should have no trouble selling it for $3000 shame we are 15 or 20 hours apart the freight would be more than the machine.

How did the engine seize?

I see there is oil on the front elevator...........was it a blown oil filter drain hose? Or turbo oil hose?

A low oil pressure alarm would have saved a few 7720 engines over the years.

I know two other blokes with 7720's and they both done it , one happened on our place sprayed oil on to elevator and all around engine bay , it made enough smoke to scare the crap out off him he thought the engine musta blew up. Mine hasn't done it yet so maybe I should replace the drain hose just to be safe hey.

I was wondering if you could find one of those combine hauling trailers around that is low and has ramps. The easiest then would be to have a winch truck pulling it so it could just pull on the combine but depending on the equipment you have around there and the trailer style, if the truck was jackknifed that is pulling the trailer, and a chain or cable is able to pass by the truck and also reach out to behind the back of the trailer to hook to your combine. Then pull with a substantial tractor so it can idle along in low gear and also has good brakes so nothing gets out of hand. Blocking the trailer tires as well so that its not pushing on the towing truck too much.

Another way to load without the winch truck is if one has access to a large pulley that is attached forward on the trailer and then again a tractor is used to pull the cable through and the tractor takes off at an angle to the trailer leaving enough running room for the combine to pass it by. I'm not sure if its possible to get any steering action by turning the steering wheel on a combine like that but it may be possible to jack up the rear of the combine and then manipulate the tires straight and go from there. The problem is trying to do it cheaply due to the value of the combine as otherwise it would be more cost effective to try and sell it where is/as is, and let someone else deal with the hauling costs !.

when I worked at a john deere dealer I had a set of hoses. I could hook them up to the lift cylinders from a tractor to remove heads and then lock up feeder house.
if the feeder house was not high enough for the factory stop I would cut a piece of heavy angle iron to fit snug, crack the lines and let the feeder house slowly leak down to the irons.

I also had a long hitch that went from the rear hitch of the combine to the tractor drawbar and tied the hoses into the steering cylinder. with the tractor I could "drive" and steer the combine where I needed to. actually worked very well.
