we sometime get oil at citgo and it says on it what brands of equipment its guaranteed for...something like that... oil and grease all come from the same place... if u take a citgo grease tube and hold up to a tube of case ih grease its the same d**n lettering and everything... we use straight 30 on older engiens and then 15-40 on everything newer...
Case IH Hytrans is the specification. Had people use "equivalent specification" oils before where hytrans should be used and had premature failure of clutch packs, pumps etc. It may be a little dearer, but it will be short term loss for long term gain
Does the 1660 have a IH engine (big numbers on the side) or a Cummins? If an IH recommended oil was 30W Cummins-15-40. What is available over there?? Have alot of guys up here in the Northern Plains using Cenex Lubricants. The base oil of hytran is 10w with alot of additives. Guess in your situation stay with hytran instead of something maybe refined locally which might not have everything in it for reliability. Great to hear from someone over there!! In fact from all over, quite a site!
