we have blokes growing lupins on some free lime soils and they look really good just wondering if there is a test you can do to see if they will grow or not.
Ph test kit, or air seeder test sow some stay clear of free lime patches , I have found some paddocks love lupins then threw the fence not great, there was talk of a lime tolerant lupin the dpi in vic was growing it.
The biggest problem with those free lime patches over here is that they hold the SU chemicals for years and come back to bite you when you try lupins/chickpeas/canola, if you're happy theres no SU carryover I dont see a problem, but then its your money on the line and not mine....
the patches I wanna try it on only have a few rocks on deep sandy loam. Good canola ground we have found. Could just use faba beans instead. might just get our agro out and test it, may save the hassle of having to look at a s%&t house patches.
