Hi. We have an old MacDon 972 which we use on a forage harvester for wholecrop cereal harvesting. last year we had a problem with it gathering debris at the leading edge of the side drapers, just before the inner roller and after the outer roller. We can't really see why this should be happening and it hasn't done it other years.

Does anyone know why this could be happening?

I'll try to post an image of the outer front LH side.

The issue causes the belt to bulge upwards.

When all the material is cleaned out on the slide under the draper check that the draper is lightly rubbing under that lip along the entire length of the draper from roller to roller.
Op manual should have procedure to adjust that under deck height.
On this list:

Make sure the tension is correct on the draper.

It may not eliminate you're issues but it should help.

Have had similar problems to what your picture shows. We solved it by mounting a plate to the cutter bar and getting it bent to fit the cutter bar so that the material would be put further onto the mat. Probably make sure that it is putting the material about 2 inches past the front of the mat. Sorry cant show any pictures have sold the machine. Good luck fell free to ask anymore questions.
