Just wanting to know more about it. I have a 1020 on my 2188 now and I'm either going to get a different 1020 or I have found a 36' 974 that fits the 21-2588 series but I do not know a lot about the drapers. Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you.. I know everyone raves about them..

What I do know is they are a fair bit heavier then then the 1020. I'm not sure if the 2188 lift cylinders have enough to lift the header quickly. Also these combines normally have a 12 ply tire, a 16 ply is recommended for the heavier drapers especially a 36'.

But the feeding is way better than the auger header, it follows the ground better. Oh and it's way more money!

I found one for 22,500 and it has new canvas on it along with some other repairs. But I don't know if I want to switch or not.

Bought a 30' 974 for a 2388 combine this year. Previously coming from using 30' 1010 and 1020 headers. The draper is sure nicer than the auger for better feeding (especially in tough conditions), picking up downed crop.

The 2388 had 2 lift cyl's which did lift the header all the way up but was working to lift the last foot. I added the 3rd cyl for piece of mind. Also added fluid to rear tires and still have to watch when lifting the header when turning on headlands if coming down a hill. A 36' head would need 3rd cyl for sure and full weight kit on the rear.

Also had the factory 30.5 front tires which handled the header good. But added a dual kit on due to our wet harvest conditons this fall because was getting stuck easily.
