As the title says, has anyone used a maxflex for straight cutting canola, and is there a side knife available for a maxflex.

George, we used a 540 maxflex to straight cut a field of lodged canola 2 yrs ago. It seemed to work okay for the most part. What I had problems with was the canola hanging up on the ends. But like I said it was a lodged field. Iam sure if you mounted shears on it you wouldn't have any problems.

We use a MaxFlex 540 and a MaxFlex 1200 no shears and just like Darcy said sometimes the end snouts give some trouble but other than that they seem to work great. We plan to straight cut 80% of our canola this year all will be dessicated though.
