Hey guys i have a 2002 MTX140 McCormick that has no power steering unless the hydraulics are operated. As soon as the loader is engaged the power steering works 100%. We have tried taking apart the priority valve underneath the cab but did not find any issues. Anyone else run into this issue with a McCormick or Case MX series tractor?
When was the last time the hydraulic filter was changed? I've encountered that issue on my CX, it will do silly things if there is a bit of air in the system or if the filter is plugging. In the extreme cold weather mine will have loader functions before steering, moving more oil gets things flowing better.
Did you get the steering figured out. Dose it have a ps filter. Worked on some 135s that didnt. Plastic sump screen in trans got chewed up and made its way into the steering system. Had to pull the steering motor, clean everything and install a filter.
Did you ever find out what was going on? I have a MTX 175 doing the same thing.
