We had them in our previous R52 and they were coming in around the wires entering under the counsol. They had the rubber seal chewed up so we caulked the opening shut and they ate that out. What finally stopped them from entering is we caulked the opening and then stuffed steel wool into the wet caulk. The combination of caulk and steel wool stopped them from chewing or pulling the stuffing out of the opening. Be sure you look and feel from all angles they do not take a very big hole to enter. Hope you find the hole the smell is not very pleasant the first few days of harvest. It is possible to keep mice out, the R52 we have now they have never been in.

Another tip for keeping mice out during storage is poison. I always put some Generation poison chunks in tuna cans and put one on top of the feeder house, one in the engine area and one in the cab, in case they manage to still get in. Works great, never had an issue since I started that practice.

Poison is not the best idea in our case. The problem is that you put poison in the cab and then the mice chew stuff up trying to get into the cab to get to the poison. The thing we have found that has stopped all mice lately is moth balls. Just put some moth balls in the cab and in the bin or somewhere like that. Throw them out a couple days before harvest and the smell is gone and if some get into the combine it runs them out. It has been a huge success for us.
