I'm looking to buy a 1460 at an up coming auction sale and it is set up for dry beans. My question is would it be worth adding the spinners and pulley like a 2166 has to get 30 ft. I have experience with adding the CNH Kit to a 1688, it has all the stuff to put the chaff and straw on the bigger spinners. I gives me 30 ft. and was worth the $2500, but I will only use this 1460 for dry bean windrows. We like to put 12-30" rows in one windrow and we plant winter wheat as soon as the beans are harvested, so we need decent distribution. We had a 1440 and it would only do 18-20 ft at most. Is it possible to get at least 25 ft from a 1460?
On my 1460 The previous owner extended the hex shaft the beaters mount on and mounted a second set of spinners on the bottom of them. That way they are stacked on top of each other. He then made the diameter of the bottom spinners big enough so they don't hit each other and mounted some cupped paddles on them to catch and throw the residue out farther. He also took the shaker pan and raised it up so it dumps onto the bottom spinners to spread all the chaff as well. I don't know if it will give you the full 30' but it gets the full width of our 16'5 foot pretty easy at stock speed in some pretty heavy straw.
Back in the day, my dad bolted straw chopper vanes to the top of the spinner disks on our old 1460. Worked great. When we upgraded to a 1680 we did the same thing. It would spread almost 30' on windless days.
C & D enterprises Haven, Ks 620-465-2324 Has a spreader kit that will spread up to 30 ft for $430.00
