My powershift piled up in my 4490 Case, after a mere 2200 hrs since its last rebuild its telling me that it doesn't like the repetitive shifting and clutch abuse......

Time to upgrade to a newer 4wd, I would prefer to stay with the Case IH end of the world, its what I know and understand. Something in the 250- 325 hp range, I would even go to the end of the green steiger era just because they seem to last well.

my question is this, what are the rest of you using? experiences? pros, cons? tire sizes and how heavy you're running it to get to be balanced, etc

Thanks,

Wade

You will miss the powershift, that was darned near perfect in third range for us. Deere four wheel drives are what we use now and that manual transmission is a bit if a headache to shift but it does the job.

Stick with Degelman for a blade, Leon's seem to have really poor clearance as well as others have said the blade profile doesn't work as nice.

my dad has a 9370 caseIH powershift with a 14 foot grouser blade. it does good for a 600hp chopper. 20.8R 42 tires filled with water weighs about 49,000 its a little slow because it starts in 1st forward every time but easier to run than a stick shift.i think you would be good to go panther 1325,1365,1400 caseIH 91,92,93 series. would a deere 9220 powershift be above your budget? we run a 9520 with a 16 foot grouser blade. it packs for 2 500hp choppers pretty easy

the panther lineup on through the 9300 series was kind of where I was headed in my mind due to way too many neighbors having too much of a deere love affair going on. I would never hear the end of it if I went to a deere, to be honest I don't even like the deere grease gun we have:D

A friend of mine bought a TJ375 back when it was new, he got a great deal on it because it had a 24 spd standard and they got so sick of shifting it in the pit that they just drove in circles all day whenever possible.
the starting out in 1st might be a bit of a pain in the butt sometimes but the guy I have who usually packs silage very rarely gets in a real big hurry so that might not be a bad thing in the end.

The last time my powershift went south on me in the middle of cutting silage I rented an STX450 from a friend, worked really nice, transmission worked really smooth, great combo with a 14' 4 way degelman blade, the only objection I have to one is the price tag haha

I had a neighbor tell me the other day that he missed his 9180 case after he went to a 9400 deere, he said from an ease of service standpoint the 9180 was way ahead of what deere was doing at the time and that only reason he has stayed green was the exceptional dealer service he gets from them.

I'm staying with a steiger designed tractor, maybe in spite of some of the case dealers I have to deal with
