Have a refurbed L2 that I'm going to try and do corn with. Has a pfp cylinder. Thinking of an 8 row. Have heard some think a JD header does a fine job. Looking for thoughts on what I should be looking for. Open to any and all comments.
I think it will be a lot easier to find a great 8 row Deere head to fit on your L2. Finding a great 8 row conventional Gleaner head is going to more difficult. I don't think many were sold in this state, and those that were would be rather elderly now. I guess the down side to a non Gleaner head is coming up with a proper adapter.
It all depends, I'm not sure on what the wight is, 8 row seems heavy for an L2, but maybe not, if it is a 900 or 1000 series IH is probably a little lighter and you would end up with knife rolls, but that might be something you don't want. Just seems like it would be too heavy because even my 1480's are light in the behind with the corn head on
