My neighbor was running a 715 for all his acres and bought a '04 2366 at an auction this weekend. It got me thinking what is the biggest jump in combine upgrades some of you have had? We went from a 1980 MF 750 we bought new to a 1994 1688 in 2002.
Interesting question, perhaps you want to title the thread differently?
Probably the most dramatic shift on our farm was going from a 1968 730 John Deere Canadian Special (built in Germany)
to a 1978 New Holland TR 70. I can hear Andy and RM cheering!
The 730 was an auction sale unit my dad put a lot of work into but for it's day was a fairly decent machine.
The TR was our first, new, self propelled machine.
Never run them together but I can't think of a bigger %age shift in capacity between 2 units since.
When I was 12 yrs old I ran a same aged 915, she had a/c but seemed to go down once a year. I remember in irrigated barley picking up windrowes at a mile an hour on half mile runs with no a/c was terrible. Then in 1997 I was 22 and we upgraded 1 915 for a 1979 1440 then the other one for a 1989 1660, that was like going from a vw to a cadilac.
