New Board Calibration

6712 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  sixmill
John Deeres electronic gimikery has fail yet again. After replacing another controler board in one of my 9660s STS, to fix the feeder house raise and lower problem. My return to cut functions never worked, It said with the instruction to recalibrate it. But the operators manuel only has the Header recalibration procedure, which you get half way through before it tells you to recalibrate the feeder house, which procedure is not in the manuel.
can JDTech or someone help me out with the full calibration procedure.
I have given a few technitions a ring who have been no help, either insufficent training or a reluctance to help

Header Installation Calibration

The header installation calibration procedure must be performed when the Header Control Unit, Header Raise or Header Lower Valves are replaced

Prepare machine for calibration
Remove header from machine

Move the combine to a place where the lift cylinders can be retracted completely,
This will require that the feeder house be lowered below ground level.

Engine running.

Lower feeder house

Press the Diagnostic Button. DIA will appear on the tachometer display

Press Up Arrow Button until EO1 appears on the tachometer display.

Press Enter Button. 000/EO1 will appear on tachometer display.

Press the up arrow or down arrow button until address 100 appears on display. 100 and CAL will flash alternately on the first line of tachometer display. PCAL will appear on the second line of the tachometer display.

Press the Enter Button. PCAL and F-r should appear on the tachometer display.

Press the Header Raise Button on the multifunction control handle to the second detent and hold. When the header is fully raised, the display will change to PCAL F-L

Press the Header Lower Button on the multifunction control handle to the second detent and hold. When the header is fully lowered, the display will change to PCAL and CAL2

The calibration procedure is paused. Without turning off the engine, connect a header to the combine. Move the combine to level ground. Lower the header to the ground.

Press the CAL Button. The display will change to PCAL and S-r

Press the Header Raise Button on the multifunction control handle to the first detent and hold. When the header is fully raised, the display will change to PCAL S-L

Press the Header Lower Button on the multifunction control handle to the first detent and hold. The header will lower. When the display changes to PCAL and S-r, release the button.

Press the Header Raise Button on the multifunction control handle to the first detent and hold. The header will raise. When the display changes to EOC, release the button.

Press the Enter Button to store the Header Installation Calibration in the Header Control Unit. 100 and PCAL will appear on the tachometer display. Calibration is now complete. Press the Back Arrow Button Twice to return to normal operation.

If any Errors occurred during calibration, previous calibration values are kept and the following will be displayed:
EOC
Err
END

Press the back arrow switch twice to return to normal operation.

I have since heard, that there are 3 calibration procedures required with a board replacement.
I have completed 2 of these. the 1 ubove and the hdr cal in the manuel
Perhaps ststech could help me out with the third

We had troubles also with our 9760 this wheat harvest, go to start some mornings & header wouldn,t lift or lower. Replaced the header ecu & just kept going to finish harvest. I did a calibration with the header off, but haven't done the second one yet. There is a third?
It's a shame a reasonally reliable machine is let down by inferior electrics.
