My dealer gave me different guards for my FD140, I replaced the 2 on each side for doing canola, they are short guards with small pointed holddowns, has anyone ever tried these in canola and what was your opinion, thanks

Sort of off subject but not very far, the hold downs for the sickle on Mac Don heads, I never did care for the method used but maybe I am missing the point on how they are used. You have to use the one bolt to try and bend the hold down enough to make it get close to the sickle and keep it down on the guard. I have never gotten it to work worth a flip. Sickle has to much room to rise up. I looked around on Crary website awhile back to see what they had for Mac Don and didn't see anything but may have over looked it. I used their hold downs in the past on other heads and liked them. I always felt like it was important to keep the sickle down on the guard.
