We have been offered a new orbis 600 to buy for next years harvest (southern hemisphere) but cant find any information on it, all we know is that it has a mixture of big and small rotors.

Has anyone used or seen these in use as prototypes?

Not sure whether this is right i just found it on google, looks like all except the 8 row use smaller drums in combination with larger drums.

Class markets an Orbis 635 in North America which has 1 small rotor in the center.

what is the idea behind the small drum in the center ?
they just trying to get the head to a full 20ft ? or is there a feeding issue without it ?

It is designed to fit corn planted on 38" center. Will chop 7 rows nicely. Lots of that spacing around here. Almost all of the cotton farmed is on 38 inch wide furrows, so they use the same equipment for planting corn. It is very difficult to keep the chopper on top of the furrows equipped with the tires we need to be able to haul the machines on custom built trailers. They fit perfectly in the bottom of the furrows however. Most of the time there is no need to steer once the machine is set straight in the rows.
