Didn't see no oranges today, we shall see what the next two days bring, agco has a good showing, a R76, the new flex-draper, and several orange tractors along with challenger and puke massey, no massey combines tho.
I just got back from Louisville. I didn't see any oranges, but there were many poeple voicing their displeasure with dropping orange. The sales rep I talked to said he asked them what their newest tractor was and most replied an Allis-Chalmers. I think this must be the company line of B.S. to justify this decision. While I talked to him a younger farmer came up and complained about dropping Agco tractor. First question rep asks is do you own an Agco? Young farmer gets upset says he has an Rt and was going to order a new DT but changed his mind after Agco's decision. Said he's done with Agco now. After further talking the rep admits that Agco didn't plan to announce this decision till they had the dealers informed and lined up , but the media spilled the story early.
Apparently AGCO doesn't even realize the main reason so many people do not have late model AGCO tractors is that until just recently they haven't offered a tractor worthy of investing in based solely on its own merits. First good tractors since the beginning of AGCO and they drop it in months.
Also those of us with new AGCO's are not real happy about having tractors worth less now than before this decision was made. AGCO just reduced my networth...doesn't make me feel like buying another tractor or combine.
The reason most say Allis Chalmers is there newest tractor, because of the crap that they have been puting out for the last 20 years. Just look at those ugly spring green tractors and when the started painting them orange again they wern't any better. Agco didn't even build anything decent until the DT series. Even then to buy the first one you feel like its a 50/50 shot at a decent tractor because of there history. So yes it is better to stick with what does work then to jump onto the bandwagon and then they say quess what we don't make it anymore. Oh and by the way if I change color it won't be the colors Agco wants me to buy.
I forgot to mention that there was a Fendt tractor in the Agco display. IT was painted black. Color was a add cost option. It looked sharp. Like many have stated why doesn't Agco go this route with the Agco tractor?
Didn't see any oranges or tshirts but I did tell a rep we traded our Gleaner for a new Case. Didn't ask why or what they could do to get a chance in the future, just said good luck and turned up his nose and walked away. Made me real glad we traded after his reaction.
A more pertinent question to be asking would have been, "How many Masseys do you own?" or "how many Masseys have you owned?" It is their future sales that can be more accurately determined with these questions.
