First year using a new holland p1060 tank and it seems like the calibrations are off. Putting on way more product than it should. And every time I calibrate it I get a way different call number??? Could it be the battery is weak when calibrating?

Are you deleting the previous cal numbers because if you aren't then you will be putting on incorrect amount of product. Is this a variable cart? If it is start by putting in what you want to apply for each tank, then prime your rollers ,dump weigh bags put them back on go into monitor and press cal get good amount of product in bags weigh them press stop on monitor then enter weight. After this you should have cal number and run test pass to see what cart is applying.

I have a chart that gives you a rough idea of what the number should be. I also found if you do not get a sample of at least 30 lbs, you will not get very accurate results. If your overseeding, then you have entered a light number, so the rolls are going to revolve faster to put on more product.

I just set up for Canola, and using an extra fine roller with 6 runs, calibration rate should be between 60 and 70. Depends on the variety on seed. As stated above, I put two bags in for 100lbs to calibrate with. Primed the roller, then hit start and put just over 30 lbs in the collection bag. Came out to 60 which seems to be working just fine.

Your dealer should have the chart I use. If not, let me know what you are seeding, meter type and number of runs and I can give you the starting point.

Are you taking off the tare weight of the bag? Not a big difference, but every little bit helps. My bags weigh 0.9 pounds. What are you using for a scale? The spring scale supplied with the cart is not that accurate. I purchased a electronic fish scale from crappy tire and it works pretty good. Usually I will weigh out at least 30 pounds of product when I do a calibration. Give the rollers a good prime before doing a calibration also.
I have found the p1060 to be very accurate once set up.

Also helps to check that 10 rotations of your roller is giving you 300 targets. The calibration number should be the same even with different amounts metered out. If you have 10 pounds for 10 rotations(300 targets), you should have 20 pounds for 20 rotations(600 targets). Check the tire pressure in the cart as well as the MPH reading on the cart. If your cart is reading a higher MPH than the radar on your tractor that will always over apply product.

Distance calibration done? Do it with a half full cart. Mine was done with an empty cart and it is 10-15% high when full. I need to redo, but have just been inputing 10% less for now.
Good point on the distance cal. Used to have the diamond tread tires on the cart and it squatted quite a bit when full. Did a distance cal when the cart was 1/2 full and it made quite a difference. I put on duals 2 years ago cause of all the getting stuck issues, cart does not squat at all now. Metering is bang on accurate.

Yes you are correct. Looked at mine again this morning. Calibration number should be the same with different amounts metered.
I quoted that wrong before, long hours with not enough sleep the head gets fuzzy.
