I have been guesstimating the weight of pigs using the heart girth x heart girth x lenght / 400, and then found a chart from Kansas state using just heart girth. We are getting 2 very different weights. Which one has anyone had the best luck with? We are getting a 40lb difference. Any advice and pointers will be appreciated.

4H fair time? Load them up in a pickup and drive them across the elevator scale.

We used to measure hogs and most of the time got close but sometimes were off on the grading grid. So we got a scale. At that time the scale was $500 but that was close to 20 years ago.

You can still buy them for under $ 500 I think. Hog Slatt probably sells them you can look them up online.
