Have a 4yr. old 2208 corn hd that has developed a slit on two of the row dividers where the ears hit !! Local dealer says this is common on the earlier heads. Dealer also stated that the newer heads had thicker poly to fix this prob. Can anyone verify this? these dividers are about $800 for the pair and I fear I will have to replace all 8 of these dividers eventually!! These thins should not be happening on a 4yr old head!!! Yes, it is common on the wide row heads. We install the stainless steel wear plates available from Clarke Machine and now from CaseIH. We put them on new wide row heads before they ever leave the lot.

We have a 01' 2208 that five of the rows cracked and a couple were really bad, got them replaced and put the stainless steal wear strips on there.. I totally agree there is no excuse for the plastic to be wearing that fast, when the head costs as much as it does......
