I've tried researching this and got overwhelmed with options, so I thought I'd ask on here.
What are you using for printer/multiple page scanners for your home offices? I don't have a fax machine, so I scan everything that needs to be sent one page at a time. I don't do a lot of this, so not looking to spend a pile of cash on it.
TIA

I use a Brother MFC-J995DW with xtra tank capacity, this one is also a fax, has been a terrific machine about CA$200

I second Brother laser all in ones. Not color, but inkjet is so not worth it. Toner is cheaper, lasts longer, and doesn't dry out. The ones I'm familiar with are single page scan only.

If you want to scan documents with a sheet feeder, sometimes a dedicated unit is best. It's hard to beat a Fujitsu ScanSnap. We use it primarily for digitizing family history documents. One evening I scanned 1000 pages to PDFs in a couple of hours.

My brother uses a fancy document scanner from a different company for invoices and things. It was more money but can scan over wireless direct to a shared folder, email, etc. Works very well.

We have hp 7610's and 7612's at our office and my home. Wide-format, can scan and print up to 11x17 which is handy for photocopying books. Both models discontinued, so the 7740 replaces these models. Cost per copy is cheap and cartridges are readily available. If you don't mind a good used unit, they can be picked up for $100.

If you don't print a lot stay away from inkjet altogether, I have had so many different ones that took the whole cartridge to clean the head from sitting for a while and the ink is too expensive. I bought a lot of Lexmark all-in-one printers about 10 years ago for $70, the ink cartridges were $70, and I just bought a whole new printer that came with the ink when it ran low, Lol.
I have to throw out an Epson artisan 1430 because I had to take it apart to clean the head, but the printer head has a circuit board that shorts out if you get cleaner on it, good luck getting parts. So I have new cartridges that don't fit anything else still in the box. looking into lasers if you don't need colour the black and white ones are the bomb, I had one at my work right on my desk that went on forever, if the toner went low you pulled it out and tapped it on your work boot put it back in and it would work for another month. The prints were nice and super fast. there really cheap to buy (printers). But I need a colour and 11" x 17" for drawings looking at one for $1600, absolutely done with stupid inkjets. Printers are my sore spot big time.

HP used to be the gold standard for printer quality. But that ended years ago. HP's quality today is not the greatest and their focus is primarily to make money off of you rather than to provide quality printers. So HP is not recommended at all. Definitely inkjets of any brand are to be avoided unless you really need that kind of color.

Lately I've had good luck with Brother all-in-one Laser printers.

As for document scanning, The Fujitsu ScanSnap mentioned earlier is hard to beat (although pricey). Our business office uses a Raven document scanner and it's super fast as well. Can email the scans directly to the accounting system we're using. Both scanners scan both sides of the page at the same time as well, and output PDF documents. For accounting purposes scanning invoices and other paperwork, they are really hard to beat.

Printer 25 bucks.

Replacement Ink cartridges. 200 bucks.

Once you get home go on Amazon and order replacements

Unless it's a Lexmark, HP, or any number of other brands that now require digital encryption chips in the ink cartridges to make sure you're using genuine expensive ones. And some cartridges count pages and just refuse to print even if plenty of ink remains. This is to ensure you get a quality print and have the best printer experience possible. Would hate to have you get poor quality prints with cheap ink.

Ink jet is such a scam.

Inkjet technology certainly isn't a replacement for the speed of a laser printer, but you guys should look up the Epson Ecotank series of inkjet printers. The ink comes in bottles that are keyed so you can't put ink in the wrong colour compartment. There is nothing to prevent you from using offbrand ink(and there is offbrand ink available). The need to be used regularly still applies though. Canon makes an ink tank printer of that sort too. That's the only type of inkjet I'd consider getting. Oh, and printing costs with the ink tanks can be considerably cheaper per page than a laser printer, colour or not. Figured I would throw that out there.

Just buy something cheap then toss it out when the ink runs out. Gone through a stack of printers over the years
