We sell small square straw bales every fall and advertise online.

This morning as I'm watching it rain yet again I got the following text .... "do you smoke dope or why you so stupid $2.50 for straw?? u r on drugs or awlful "edited"ing stupid.

Someones have'n a rough morning or had a rough night

I always get a couple people every fall who figure straw should be the same cost its always been since 1980 and want to "negotiate" but they don't usually get that tore up. Heck I thought i should charge more since its been raining or snowing the last couple weeks.

He must have not much of a life if the price is to much for him why would he waist his time bothering you and also your time .If he contacts you again tell him it's now $3.50 .i have been selling small bails of hay and straw for over 35 years we are at $5.00 for under ten bails most people live in town and tell me it's too cheap and still want to give me a tip on top of that. What's the chance he works in town for $35.00 per hour.

When I see ads for hay squares for $3/bale it makes the straw look high. But I won't make any hay squares this year unless I can get at least $7/bale. Seen one ad for straw for $4/bale.

It's to much work to put up small squares to be giving them away. I don't think some people understand that.

For small amounts we charge more of course. An yes they can be a pain in the *ss when you're trying to harvest,make hay all at once then and square straw on top of it. Sm. squares just require so much labor and have to be picked right way unlike rounds. IF I didn't still have all my boys around home I know we wouldn't make them. Over all people are getting the hint and are pretty good compared to years ago when they used to really b*tch about price. Last few years now we've seen more and more "famers" buying some squares as they just don't want to bother making them as they don't use many anymore.

We're at 200/ton for straw and I think that is kinda low.

500# calves last week sold at local sale barn for $1500/head. $$ .

Pouring cheap corn to mine, sell in December, should be pretty happy.

I gave $3/bale for rye straw last month. Only 100 bales.
