I have a '95 R62 with a 320 grain head. When I have the header control on and I'm cutting beans (15 in. rows) the header will start jumping up and down. The hydraulic oil will get hot, the steering will get hard to turn and the reel will slow down. Now if I shut the header control off and run manually, the oil cools down and everything works fine (except no auto header control).

Has this ever happened to anyone else, and what did you do to correct the problem?

The hydraulics are set too fast for "up" and "down". ....look in your owners manual and adjust the "rate of raise" and "rate of lower" screws on the header lifting valve to 8 seconds ground to fully up and 8 seconds fully up to down on the ground. Do this with engine at full throttle and warm oil. May require some fine tuning, but this will help.
