I was cutting beans today and had the error code come up "Left header sensor failer calibration" I dont know what is causing this and the dealer is closed. Thanks in advance.

How do i fix this. thanks in advance

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

when you calibrate the header make sure the left and right sensors are the same voltage when the header is on the ground it should not be any less then .8 volts (I prefer 1 volt) fully raised it can not be over 4 volts 3.8 is good

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

Not trying to hi-jack this post, but I am having a similar problem . The head will ride at cut height, the LED's are flashing violently and then the head will raise right up to the top and will not kick off when at the fully raised position. I have tried height control, sensitivity and calibration several times with no success. Could it be a bad sensor?

If you have the console II hit the wrench and your header volts will be there
graingleaner check your rods first and make sure you don't have mud build up if that is ok then probly a senser.

On my older head I put a short bungee on the rod lever because it was sticking a little at times. Just wonter if that is what is happening here.

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

PJ -The sensor rods on our head have springs already attached, seem to be working well.
Chevyman- I will test the potentiometers in the morning to hopefully find the culprit.
Swartz- My header control module flashed a code- (right header sensor failed calibration) as well. I changed the sensor re-measured all the mechanical components(rods, arms etc), recalibrated. but still have the two LED flashing violently. The head either wants to bury it self or raise to full up position. Any luck with yours?

Looked at it again today. Potentiometers are OK. They all read 0.4 to 6.0. It must be either wire shorting or the control module itself. Will do a continuity test on wires to main plug at feeder housing first.

Grain Cleaner u need to check to make sure when on the head that when moving the arms the full stroke that the petetiometer stays within the range of 1-4 volts if it goes out of that range it will run an error on the control module.

Couldn't cut beans today hopefully tomorrow. had a little SNOW last night. I will check the voltage of the potentiometers by probing the plugs. I have the older control panel that has only the LEDs no voltage display. Thanks for the info. Sure would be nice to have the auto height control working again.

graingleaner 9 times out of ten the symptoms you describe are a bad sensor. If the sensors go out of range they will trigger a code on the old display. Watch the flashes they will give you a two digit code when there is an error. It is not critical to have the two potentiometers the same in readings just within that that opperating range.

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

This morning I tested the potentiometers for proper voltage range. Engine off , Key on, Clutches both on, Auto height control on. Both sensors are OK Voltage wise. The strange part is the Master Solenoid and the Header Lower Solenoid both are cycling rapidly (Engine still off). This would explain the LED's blinking rapidly. Doesn't seem like it matter's where the head is positioned. If I shut the auto height control off the solenoids stop clicking or cycling. I have looked at the wiring diagram for the height control system to see what might be causing this. Is there any bench test equipment to see if it is the "under console module" or control module. Any thoughts

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

did you put a single point hookup on the combine graingleaner? when the lights flash read them if they flash twice and pause then flash five times and pause then twice etc. that mean code 25 the book will tell you the problem. If you have the yellow plug in like a trailer plugin then that is more than likely were the problem is.

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

Single point hook up would be nice but I have the standard flat plug for the electrical on the head. As far as codes go, I get different codes at different times. None seem to be the real problem. I know it sounds strange but I have investigated all the Faults but it still has this problem of either burying the head or raising up to the top and won't trip the solenoid when it gets to the top. I have checked all the obvious stuff several times. Still no success. Maybe a glitch in the module? Keep your thoughts comin. Well get [email protected]#*%*# figured out yet!

Re: R65 combine w/ 8200 Flex head - sensor problem

Has this combine to head combo worked previously? I haven't installed one of these systems myself for awhile but I believe there is a wire coming from auto header harness that should be grounded on counsel floor. I hope you checked voltage at senser as described above. I just lift header and cutterbar off the ground. Then I go to each senser. One of the wires is ground, one is voltage in, and other signal out. Go between ground and signal out. Push down on cutterbar to see it is resting at bottom of travel. All feeler should be touching or nearly touching parralell arm. Now read voltage and then pull on lever to overcome spring tention. Voltage should vary from something just above a volt to something just under 4 volts. If not adjust turnbuckle, twist potentiometer, or reposition lever. Repeat on other side. Now run calibration again. If all else fails try your box under counsel on another machine. I'm doubting switch box on cab post but wouldn't be to hard to unplug and try on another machine as well. It would be interesting to know if auto header ever worked on that header or that combine or the combo of them two. Good luck
