Start with checking for a blown fuse in the cab, then see if you are getting electricity to the separator switch, then check the other side of the switch to see if it is passing through the switch. If it passes through the switch then check at the electric solenoid valve to see if you are getting electricity back to it. It is the valve that engages the hydraulic clutch on the separator. (I had a 1480 that this was the problem on.)

Another thing you could do is run a wire outside the harness to the solenoid and see what happens if you aren't getting electricity back to the solenoid.

Also something to look at is the pickup on the reverser chain idler it may be out of adjustment there is a sensor for the feeder chain that stops the feeder 3seconds after the feeder stops turning after you suck in that beaver hut [ canadian terminology ] .
