Re: 1688 specialty rotor

tugboat, if your mostly doing wheat I would say the standard rotor would work fine for you. You have to take into consideration the wear of each of the rotors too, meaning the concave bars, & the price difference. If the standard rotor has better bars & you get it $5,000 less then the one with the spec I would buy the 1ST wear out the rotor & put in a AFX if the savings is there between the two. Hope this helps.

As far as the wheat goes, you can get by without it just fine. But I would prefer the specialty anyday over the standard, especially if you cut crops such as rye with the combine. Depending on how much more they were asking, I believe that it would be worth it. The specialy is a lot like the AFx they run today, with the exception of the elephant ears on it instead of the front that's ok the AFX.

The specialty rotor will have more versatility. You can put Gorden bars on the front of the specialty and have the best of both worlds. It's more money that way, but in the lang term it would be a better choice. Ya just never know what mother nature will through at you and make for a tough harvest sometimes.
