Re: 2388 quadtrac?

There are a couple companies that make tracks for the 2388 platform. I have seen both a steel track and a rubber track design. The tracks only go on the front axle, and typically look similar to the tracks on a QuadTrac, but there are only 2 tracks on the machine. Steer axle still uses wheels.

Re: 2388 quadtrac?

It absolutely blows me away that you guys can harvest in those type of conditions. We always harvest in the dead of summer, usually middle of july to mid august. Temps are usually in the 90s and sometimes into the hundreds. Ill just say that things definitely are not wet at that point in time. I spose looking on the bright side you dont have to worry about having a fire. Does using a machine in those type of conditions shorten its lifespan at all?

Tracks are actually smoother an more stable in the mud than tires we run these tracks on a 2188 but take them off when it's dry, ground friction will take your combine apart

Re: 2388 quadtrac?

I saw a set of factory Case IH tracks on a 2388 a couple of years ago at a farm around Quincy, IL. Identical to a quadtrac system from the 9380's but had a gearbox intergrated to improve road speeds. The farmer said there were very few made.

I not sure about details but he said it was nearly the same as having tires on it. Sorry no pics but it basically looks like the quadtrac system and the gearbox was in behind kinda hiddden in the framework. Looks almost like a griptrac system in the pic above

The differential in the transmission is still there, so the rear tires work for steering. There's not much more scrub up front than running a set of wide duals, or a really wide single.

If you mean ground friction (scrub) there's a lot more with tracks like I said as long as it's wet their great but when it's dry turning on dry ground is like trying to turn with diff. lock on rwa helps to turn. warning, stay off the brakes, use lightly these hubs an frames on the tracks and 21-2388 aren't made to turn like a cat dozer, have heard of some pretty nasty tear ups
