Re: AF 2388 (2588) on Flax (linseed)

We run a 2188 in flax, works fine using 25' draper header and small wire grates. You must tighten the concave all the way to get the bolls thrashed. We have had it wrap on the chopper but comes off easily. On a 1460 we had, it would occasionally wrap on the ends of the beater( no chopper) behind the rotor, and once had a small fire where it had wrapped on the rear end of the rotor shaft. No problems with the rotor itself.

I don't know about rotary combines, but I do know that if flax straw is properly dry, it can start a fire very quickly just by wraping. The friction, combined with the "oily" stem causes the fire.
